Although the fashionistas around us are plumping for chunky and bold frames, rimless styles will always have a place in the hearts of the more minimalist among you.
Rimless comprise of a bridge and side arms, which are attached by drilling into the lenses. This gives you a light, barely there look, and wearers love the invisible effect of these specs.
Rimless can be simple and plain, or like jewellery, embellished, etched and colourful. The lens shape dictates the shape of the finished specs, so if you want a copy of a frame you've always loved, you can ask for the lenses to be cut in a chosen shape. You can also have a groove inset around the lens and filled with coloured enamel, for the definition of a rim but not the weight.
An anti-reflection coating on these lenses enhances the barely there look, or a coloured tint can add interest and draw attention to the shape. The beauty of rimless is that they are a bespoke item, and we can help you to create a one off design just for you.
Semi-rimless frames have a top rim with a nylon thread running around the lower lens edge. Useful if you want something a little tougher than a rimless, but these cannot be made to bespoke shapes.
We stock Lindberg rimless at Kettering and Stony Stratford, and at Kettering we have a collection of Polaris. In Thrapston we stock Silhouette, and we have other ranges at our branches too. All of these styles are suitable for most prescriptions, but not all. The dispensing team would be happy to advise you if you would like to discuss the possibility for you.
