Support the Macular Society

Join in the Fun on our Open days!

As part of our upcoming Open Day programme we’re doing some fundraising work for the Macular society – so if you come and join in the fun to view the William Morris or Bevel collections, and have a colour consultation, you can also help us with a very worthy cause.

In the UK over 500,000 people are affected by Age Related Macular Degeneration, with about half of those patients becoming visually impaired. Although it does not cause total blindness, it destroys the central area of vision and the patient therefore struggles with detail and recognising faces.

Regular eye examinations can help us to detect the earliest signs, and we’re giving out information packs in the practice, along with samples of supplements that can help patients suffering from or at risk of the disease. We’ll be running a fundraising raffle on the open days, and we’ve also set up a Just Giving Page www.justgiving.com/davisopt.

Rachel Crawford-Jones, regional fundraiser for the Macular Society, said: “The macula is the most important part of the retina and without it people cannot read, drive or recognise faces. We are delighted to be teaming up with Davis to raise vital funds towards research into treatments and a cure for macular disease.”

To learn more about ARMD see the pages on our website, or talk to your optician during your eye test. And of course we hope to see you at one of our open days – Kettering Friday May 10th, Olney May 21st & May 31st, Thrapston May 28th.

Great care always.
