3D Retinal Scanning

alt : Enhanced Retinal Scan (3D OCT)

For peace of mind and the very newest diagnostic tools in optical practice we have OCT - Optical Coherance Tomographers - in Kettering, Thrpaston, Market Harborough, Olney and Stony Stratford.

Our first 3D scanner arrived at Kettering in 2009, and we were so impressed with the machine we have now invested in more for our other branches. We have digital retinal imaging in every branch too, for 2D imaging.

The health of your eyes matters to you. It matters to us too, which is why we have invested so heavily in these instruments for you. Your eyes can now be examined in previously unimaginable detail, as we can actually see below the surface.

Hopefully you have had photographs done of the back of your eyes - the retina. The OCT takes a more detailed photograph in the same way as older imaging systems, but gives a 3D, cross-sectional scan of the retina in one sitting. The machine takes over forty thousand scans to build up a full picture of your retina. It is non-invasive, painless and quick! The images are stored for future reference, and can be compared to your next scan to monitor the health of your eyes.

We can diagnose and monitor conditions including vitreous detachments, glaucoma, diabetes, macular holes, age related macular degeneration (ARMD) and much more. The danger with some conditions, such as detachment, is that the condition is painless and initially vision is normal, while damage is actually occurring at the back of the eye. With diseases like ARMD we can identify the type and monitor progress of treatment.

As one of the first practices in the country to benefit from this new technology, we are pleased to be able to offer the highest standards of care to even more of our patients. Prevention is always better than cure, and early detection and treatment of disease might save your sight.

Scott was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Scott.
