Semi Rimless Frames
If you've had a pair of rimless specs and you want a change, or if you want something a little more substantial, then a semi-rimless or Supra style may be for you. These frames have a top rim, with a nylon thread which runs around the bottom of the lens to hold it in place. This still gives you a light look, but is a little tougher than a conventional rimless.
The rim and sides can be plastic or metal, and obviously a very slender metal rim and a nylon thread gives that barely there look. Some styles however have a chunky plastic rim, which is a cool contrast to the lower edge. Supra styles are always popular, but as with rimless they are not suitable for all prescriptions.
