Who is Testing you?
Optical Assistants
Before you see the Optician, trained members of the team will pre-screen you. They do not analyse your tests, they are there to get the clearest results possible and answer any questions you may have about the screening process. Please tell them at once if you need assistance or clarification about the tests. These team members are called optical assistants, and they are fully trained for this equipment, and to look after you before your test. They'll even make you a drink if you have time! Your optical assistant passes the results to your Optician in preparation for your consultation.
The Optician
For your eye examination you see an Optician, correct professional title Optometrist, who is fully qualified to test eyes. Our Opticians are qualified with a Science degree and then full professional training. All undertake yearly continuing education to keep them up to date with new technology and clinical information. As well as studying to hone their skills they are also qualified by experience - over 130 years in practice between them! Your Optician uses state of the art equipment and the good old fashioned method of chatting to you to assess your visual needs.
