Quick Guide to Hard Contact Lenses
The original Hard lens did not “breathe” so had to be small and loose and consequently less comfortable. There is no need for anyone to be wearing these now!
RGP or Rigid Gas Permeable lenses are modern Hard lenses and come in a multitude of designs and oxygen permeable silicone polymer materials.
These lenses are semi-rigid so are very useful for irregular shaped eyes and can give sharper vision than some Soft lenses.
Very durable and easy to look after.
Take longer to adapt to than Soft, but are then usually very comfortable
